Researchers from the SARAI team participated in the European Geosciences Union (EGU) Congress 2024, held in April in Vienna, Austria. They presented their progress in three important areas of study through papers and posters.
First, Guadalupe Bru presented a poster entitled “Assessing the Impact of Stabilization Measures on a Slow-Moving Landslide in Arcos de La Frontera town (SW Spain) using InSAR”. This work focused on the evaluation of the impact of stabilization measures on a slow-moving landslide in Arcos de la Frontera, using the satellite radar interferometry (InSAR) technique.
Another outstanding contribution was that of Pablo Ezquerro, who explained the research on the monitoring of the volcanic eruption of La Palma in 2021. In the presentation “Monitoring of La Palma 2021 volcanic eruption using Interferometric and Amplitude SAR data” they detailed how interferometric and amplitude SAR data were used to closely follow the eruptive event.
Finally, Carolina Guardiola-Albert presented her research “Assessment of groundwater storage variation at aquifer scale with ready-to-use GRACE Satellite Data: Spanish study cases”. This study used GRACE satellite data to assess variations in aquifer-scale groundwater storage in the Doñana aquifer (Spain).
